Why the Best Ski Seasons Start Long Before the First Snowfall

Every winter, we hear the same thing.

"This is the year I'm finally going to ski powder with confidence."

"I want to stop avoiding the trees."

"Maybe I'll finally try ski touring."

The funny thing is, those goals rarely begin with the first snowfall.

They begin long before winter arrives.

Summer and fall are where we make the decision to try something new. It's when we commit to challenging ourselves, book that camp we've been thinking about, or simply decide that this season is going to be different from the last.

The skiing comes later.

Confidence Isn't Something You Find

One of the biggest misconceptions we see is that confidence comes before action.

It doesn't.

Confidence comes from action.

It comes from taking one step outside your comfort zone, discovering you can handle it, and then doing it again.

Maybe that's your first powder turn.

Maybe it's skiing your first black diamond without stopping.

Maybe it's saying yes to your first backcountry day.

Whatever it is, confidence is built one experience at a time.

Why We Love Coaching

After more than two decades of coaching women, we've realized something.

People come to Rippin' Chix to become better skiers.

And they do.

They ski steeper terrain. They improve their technique. They become more comfortable in challenging conditions.

But what stays with us are the moments that have nothing to do with skiing.

It's the smile at the bottom of a run someone never thought they'd ski.

The friendships formed over après.

The realization that the story they've been telling themselves—"I'm not good enough"—was never actually true.

Those moments are why we keep coming back.

Looking Ahead to Winter

Our 2027 camp schedule is now live, and we couldn't be more excited for another season in the mountains.

Whether you're joining us for your first camp or your fifteenth, we hope this is the season you say yes to something that's been sitting just outside your comfort zone.

Because every camp starts with skiing.

What you leave with is usually something more.
